We are a traditional local millwork shop with a passion and reputation for making all styles of custom wooden windows, doors, storefronts, gates and millwork. Our company was founded on the building industry’s need for better windows. We have spent years working with architects, engineers, historic preservationists, window industry experts, Europeans, Canadians and Australians to develop window products to solve several problems that exist in modern day mass manufactured windows.
We primarily build with clear vertical grain Douglas Fir. Douglas Fir has been the traditional species of Pacific Northwest window and door builders since the mid 1880s. We stock thousands of board feet at a time. We also build with Western Red Cedar (the traditional Pacific Northwest window and door species pre 1880s) quarter sawn White Oak, Sapele, Claro Walnut, and Accoya.
Our knowledge of traditional window and door making techniques is unparalleled. Our understanding of modern window and door performance as it pertains to building science is as well. We are problem solvers for architects and builders
We insist on true mortise and tenon joinery. We have specialty window and door machinery developed in Europe capable of making every length, thickness and angle tenon. Our work matching historic molding profiles has allowed us to develop an impressive catalog of custom molding knives and cope and stick profiles, specifically pertaining to the popular profiles found in older northwest buildings. We are curved woodwork specialists.
We can source any type of glass: leaded, restoration, beveled, obscured, tempered, laminated, fire rated and insulated. Traditional true and modern simulated divided light. Glass set to exterior sticking in 50 year wet silicone sealant.
As an option we offer all our products completely prefinished - primed and painted, stained and finished or oiled before glass and hardware so every surface can be completely sealed.
